Transcription: Lithography is a printing process in which the image is printed from a flat surface. It is not raised as in relief printing nor depressed as in intaglio printing. Lithography can be done with stone or plate. Traditionally, printers used Bavarian limestone and prepared the stone by graining it to ensure that it was perfectly flat. These stones can last hundreds of years and be used over and over by regraining the surface in between images.
